The California School of
Continuing a Legacy of Excellence
Alliant International University is built on a legacy of thought leadership, multicultural competence, and quality of care. Founded in 1969, our cornerstone school, the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP), was one of the nation’s first independent schools of professional psychology. Today, CSPP continues its commitment to preparing the next generation of mental health professionals and advocates. Our dedication to ensuring every community’s access to quality mental health care extends from integrated care to inclusive family therapy, and our students and alumni begin making an impact in the communities they serve from the moment they set foot in our classrooms.
Through our distinguished faculty, CSPP continues its legacy of leadership that started in our earliest years with world-renowned faculty like Abraham Maslow, Carl Rogers, and Viktor Frankl—recognized as fathers of modern psychology. Many pioneers in marriage and family therapy, including Maurizio Andolfi, Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy, James Framo, Edwin Friedman, Jay Haley, Norman Paul, Virginia Satir, and Carl Whitaker, are also part of our legacy.
Current faculty like psychopharmacology advocate Alan Lincoln, premier sports psychologist Steve Bucky, and multicultural therapy scholar Michi Fu, continue to uphold our commitment to turning experience into expertise and expertise into leadership.
Because our faculty train their students to become both their colleagues as leaders in the field and the next generation of thought leaders, our alumni have gone on to become vital pioneers in their communities. Alumni like Travis Bradberry, PhD, author of Emotional Intelligence 2.0; Davina Kotulski, PhD, author, speaker, and LGBT advocate; and Mark Blankenship, PhD, former executive vice president of Jack in the Box and a leading voice for corporate diversity and inclusion, continue to use their education as a tool for societal change and lasting impact.
We believe that advanced degrees and expertise are meaningless unless they are used as an instrument for public benefit and the greater good. That is why Alliant our students contribute over 1.2 million hours of community service every year.
At Alliant, we pride ourselves on preparing the next generation with the tools they need to translate their education to public benefit, service to their communities, and a lasting impact through one of society’s most vital helping professions.
